Technology Links Africa: the Kabissa network

By on April 27, 2011

We recently came across the Kabissa network, a volunteer-run organization that links African civil society organizations from various disciplines for knowledge and information sharing.

The site’s focus is on improving ICT (Information and Communication Technology) learning, but this network of over 1500 membership organizations covers many topics such as gender, conflict resolution, arts and culture, and more.

One of the functions we love about Kabissa is their database search. You can search for an organization in the network by region and specialization; we actually just used it to research competitors for one of our clients. Though the network has huge potential, we were surprised that there wasn’t much activity on the community blog and discussion pages (especially for such a large network). This made us curious about the benefits organizations are getting from their membership in the network.

Are you a member of this network? Tell us what you think. Is your organization involved with another comparable network? How do they compare?
